Cocoy Laurel dies at 72

Pumanaw na ang dating aktor at singer na si Victor “Cocoy” Laurel noong Sabado, June 14, 2025.

Siya ay 72.

Kinumpirma ng pamilya ni Cocoy ang kanyang pagpanaw sa pamamagitan ng isang official statement na ibinahagi sa Facebook page na Celia Diaz Laurel ngayong Lunes, June 16.

Nakasaad dito: “It is with deep affection and grateful faith that we entrust our dear brother, Victor, into the hands of our almighty Lord, GOD, Creator and Savior.

“He worshipped God and praised him through his music and artistry and blessed others so generously.

“Rest in peace, beloved brother, mentor, maestro and friend.

“We are incredibly grateful for you.

“Thank you for all you’ve done for us.

“You will always have a special place in our hearts.”

Hindi tinukoy kung ano ang sanhi ng kanyang pagkamatay.

COCOY LAUREL: NORA AUNOR AND VILMA SANTOS’S LEADING MAN

Si Cocoy ay mula sa Laurel political and showbiz clan.

Isa siya sa walong anak ni dating Vice-President Salvador “Doy” Laurel at ng artist na si Celia Diaz-Laurel.

Kilala rin si Cocoy bilang leading man ng National Artist at Superstar na si Nora Aunor at ng Star For All Seasons na si Vilma Santos noong dekada ’70.

Ilan sa mga pinagsamahan nilang pelikula ni Nora ay ang Lollipops, Roses, and Talangka (1971), Impossible Dream (1973), at Lollipops and Roses and Burong Talangka (1975).

Nagkatambal naman sila ni Vilma sa mga pelikulang Ophella at Paris (1973), Disco Fever (1978), at Pinay, American Style (1979).

Huling nasilayan ng publiko si Cocoy Laurel sa burol ni Nora sa Heritage Park noon lamang April 21, 2025.

Kahit halatang mahina na ay tiniyak ni Cocoy na masilayan ang dating kapareha at matalik na kaibigan sa huling sandali.

Former actor and singer Cocoy Laurel was last seen by the public at the wake of his former leading lady Nora Aunor at Heritage Park.
