Missing UST-AMV alumnus found d**d

AN ALUMNUS of the UST-Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy who was taking up law at De La Salle University (DLSU) was found dead on June 21, two weeks after he was last seen.

Anthony Granada, 25, had been missing since June 8. He was last seen at his condo near Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, where he boarded a Grab car bound for Naic Town Plaza in Cavite.

On June 21, police found Granada’s decomposing body at about 1:20 p.m. on a vacant lot in Barangay Sapa in Naic, Cavite, according to a Philstar.com report.

The DLSU law student’s death was confirmed by his brother, Ricky.

“We just want to update [everyone] that my brother, Anthony Granada, has been found, but unfortunately, he is with our Creator now,” Ricky wrote in a June 21 Facebook post.

“As we navigate this period, we kindly ask for your understanding and respect for our family’s need for privacy to grieve in the moment.”

Col. Rodel Pastor said police are still waiting for Granada’s autopsy results to rule out foul play.

“Sa autopsy lang po tayo mag-rely kasi negative indication na may nakita na kausap o katagpo [si Granada],” Pastor, Taguig police officer in charge, told the Varsitarian. “Or, kung makita pa sana ‘yong CCTV footages or ‘yong cellphone niya kung ma-recover…baka may importanteng details do’n.”

CCTV footage released by the Naic Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on June 18 showed Granada walking alone on Lopez Jaena Bridge in Naic on the same night he was last seen.

In a statement on June 22, the DLSU Tañada-Diokno School of Law said it had been in contact with Granada’s family and classmates since he was first reported missing.

“De La Salle University Tañada-Diokno School of Law deeply mourns the loss of one of its students and sympathizes with the family and friends of the deceased,” it said.

“School administrators have been in contact with the family since the student was first reported missing, and guidance counselors are in constant communication with the classmates,” it continued.
