In a remarkable display of determination, a 31-year-old tourist from Ormoc City attempted to swim across the sea to Maripipi Island in Biliran province after running out of fare money.
The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, arrived in Kawayan town on Thursday, intending to vacation on Maripipi Island. Upon realizing he lacked the funds for the boat fare, he decided to make the journey by swimming, using an inflatable ring for support.
Authorities spotted the man in the open sea and promptly rescued him, preventing a potentially dangerous situation. The incident highlights the lengths to which individuals may go when faced with unexpected challenges during travel.
